Hello guys , today we will be talking about how to make a everyday carry survival fire kit , I came to this idea when I was replacing my shoe laces with 550 paracord , it is simple and very practical and you won’t forget your kit anywhere , so let’s get started , first of all you will need to purchase firecord ( 7 strand paracord , which has an one extra , 8th strand and it is easy flammable)

So let’s say your shoelaces are 4 ft long (1.2m) this means that you will have 8ft (2.4m) of firecord and 8ft x7 usable cordage . So to get started remove your old shoelaces , now measure it and take the same length plus 3 inch of firecord , then start putting your firecord in place of shoelaces , you may want to temporarily heat seal the ends , to make it easier to install your new shoelaces , now you have ton of cordage ready to use in an emergency situation on you all the time. Next let’s turn your laces in a survival fire kit.

To do this you will need a 2 inch mini ferro rod , you can find them cheap on amazon and ebay , then cut it in half , you can cut it with small bolt cutters or hacksaw blades .

Now reopen the sealed ends and pull out the cordage with the firecord about an inch (2.5cm) and cut off the inner strands .

Now smooth the out casing and insert half of your mini ferro rod.

Push it good inside the outer coating and now you can heat seal the ends.

Now you have a good amount of cordage and a way to start a fire on you all day every day !
So to start a fire with your kit , cut the sealed ends of the laces and take out the ferro rod.

Push out the cordage under it ( about 4inch) and cut off a piece of red strand.

So to transform it in a spark catching tinder , place it on a dry wood and scrape it with a rock or a knife to increase the surface of the tinder.

So before firing it up , make sure you have your dry fire building material ready to go , next use the spine side of your knife to strike the ferro rod , if you have prepared your red strand properly than it should catch sparks and light up after a few strikes.

Now , if you want to have a backup ferro rod stricker with you all time , simply cut of a little piece of a hacksaw like this :

Use a high quality ducktape to cover and secure your blade in your shoe like this :

There you have it a simple everyday carry survival hack , so from today on you will have a good fire staring kit on you everyday and you will never forget to take it with you , thanks for reading and if you want more survival hacks , tips and tricks make sure to subscribe to our youtube channel : HF Survival School.
